StudioFriday: family

I always push myself to illustrate something further than the first things that come to mind.
Here I've tried to make something unexpected from the subject of "family," showing that dissimilar creatures can still be family, and also that a cat wouldn't normally like a duck. At least my cat wouldn't... That reminds me: as I drew this I realized how my daughter has been called our little duck, and our cat never asked for her to intrude into our lives. But she is crazy about him, and we know he secretly loves her attention. ..... I have been an admirer for a while now of IllustrationFriday, StudioFriday, & InspireMeThursday. This is my first attempt at utilizing those sites to push myself to keep creating & also to practice.

This is SO adorable. I love the unspoken as the look on the duck's face is so precious. Wonderful job on this.

This is a great way to illustrate what families sometimes are! I often think of myself and my sister as being the "odd-ducks" in our family......and she often asks, "are you sure we're from the same gene pool as the rest of them?" In spite of the differences, we are family.....and your painting illustrates that perfectly! It also makes me think of the way we come together throughout our lives to connect with friends and create a family of our own choosing. Great post and welcome to SF!
